Adding categories

When adding stock and suppliers it is helpful to add categories so that reports and searches can be filtered into groups.

To add a Stock Category, click resources in the left-hand menu, then hover over Stock so that the sub menu appears, then the click the + symbol beside Categories.

You may also want to add a parent Category.

An example of a Parent Category could be Stationary, and then under that would be more specific categories such as Envelopes. If you stocked multiple envelope sizes, each one would be entered as individual stock items and added to the ‘Envelopes’ category that you made.

Categories can also have colours added to them, this is really handy when you are adding events to the calendar, as they will appear with the colour coded band alongside them that corresponds to the category you have placed them in.

Categories can currently be added to:

  • Clients
  • Projects
  • Tasks
  • Events
  • Suppliers
  • Stock
  • Assets

Categories are really handy if you have a lot of stock items, they help you to filter the data. Don’t forget that if your stock list looks shorter than it should, you probably have a filter in place in the top bar of the table.
